Winnipeg, MB - The UBC Thunderbirds could not finish off the Winnipeg Wesmen losing in five sets (19-25, 25-22, 26-28, 25-17, 15-12) in men's volleyball action Friday night in Winnipeg. With the loss UBC falls to 4-3 on the season, snapping their four game winning streak while Winnipeg improves to an identical 4-3 record.

The Thunderbirds were up 2-1, but lost in the fourth set 25-17 to send the game to a fifth and deciding set. Once again they would go up, leading the Wesmen 8-4, but would falter down the stretch as Winnipeg pulled out a 15-12 victory to win the match in five sets.

For Winnipeg Tom Douglas-Powell was a force all night, finishing with a game high 27 kills.Â
The Thunderbirds and Wesmen will wrap up the weekend series tomorrow evening in Winnipeg at 4 p.m. PST.
