Vancouver – The top ranked UBC Men's soccer team will host the team's final home stand of the season this weekend welcoming the University of Winnipeg Wesmen and the Mount Royal Cougars to town. Friday's game against the Wesmen and Saturday's matchup against the Cougars marks the final homes games for the Thunderbirds for the 2013 Canada West regular season. Both games are set to kick off at 7:00 pm at David Sidoo Field at Thunderbird Stadium
The team returns home after two convincing road victories against the University of Northern British Columbia improving their record to 9-1-0 and remaining undefeated away from home.
The Thunderbirds are currently riding a nine-game winning streak and are now the No. 1 ranked team in the CIS surpassing the York Lions, who dropped to No. 3 in the latest rankings.
The Thunderbirds offensive and defensive consistency has been a large part of the team's success so far this season. The Thunderbirds have scored less than three goals on only two occasions this season while conceding no more than two goals to its opponents during that timespan.

Milad Mehrabi leads the league with 12 points while
Navid Mashinchi and
Reynold Stewart both sit two back with 10 points. Mehrabi also leads the Canada West goal-scoring race after adding two more goals this past weekend increasing his season total to eight.
The University of Winnipeg is coming off a weekend home series against the University of Lethbridge where the Wesmen were able to grab four points in a win and a tie improving the teams record to 3-4-3. Winnipeg sits in fourth place in the Canada West Prairie Division with 12 points.
The Mount Royal Cougars sit two points behind Winnipeg, good for fifth place in the Canada West Prairie division heading into this weekends action. The Cougars are coming off a pair of home losses against Calgary and look to get back into the win column Friday night against Trinity Western before visiting the Thunderbirds on Saturday.
The Thunderbird will close out the regular season on October 26
th and 27
th with road matches against Lethbridge and Calgary
If UBC is able to clinch top spot in the Pacific Division they will play host to the six team Canada West Championship tournament beginning October 31.
