Seattle, Washington - The UBC Thunderbirds men's swim team defeated the Seattle University Redhawks 128-77 Saturday afternoon in a dual meet at Connolly Center Pool in Seattle.
UBC was led by
Kelly Aspinall (Nanoose Bay, BC) and
Kevin Nelson (Calgary, AB) who each won a pair of races. Aspinall won the 50 yard freestyle in 20.95 and the 100 yard freestyle in a time of 46.44. Nelson took top honours in the men's 1000 yard freestyle, clocking a time of 9:32.93 and he swam a 1:52.73 to win the 200 yard butterfly.
Other winners included
Patrick Cowan (Saskatoon, SK) who won the men's 400 yard individual medley in 4:02.12 and
Evan Broderick (Surrey, BC) was a winner in the 200 yard breastsroke finishing in a time of 2:06.79.
The men also won the 400 yard medley relay in a time of 3:23.98. The team included Aspinall, Broderick,
Sergey Holson (West Vancouver, BC), and
Jonathan Kraft (Tsawwassen, BC).
UBC's swim team will be in action November 23-24 at the Canada Cup in Etobicoke, Ontario.
