VANCOUVER - The UBC Thunderbirds men's volleyball team lost in straight sets to the Cal State Northridge Matadors in a New Year's Eve exhibition match on Saturday afternoon in California.

David Zeyha (2nd, Grande Prairie, AB) led UBC with six kills in a match where the Thunderbirds couldn't muster up a lot of offensive success.
The set scores were 25-15, 25-15 and 25-18 in favour of the host Matadors. UBC's hitting percentage was .014.
The two teams played an additional fourth set, which the Thunderbirds won 25-19.
UBC's next game on their four match tour of southern California will take place on Jan. 2 at Pepperdine University.
