Janine Frazao scored a hat trick to lead the No. 7-ranked University of British Columbia's women's soccer team to a 5-0 win over the Regina Cougars on Sunday afternoon in a Canada West match at the U of R Field.
Frazao scored in the 42nd minute to put UBC up 2-0 at the half, then added strikes in the 66th and 78th minutes to notch the hat trick. The three goals gives the third-year forward a conference-leading seven for the season.
Lisa Furutani opened the scoring in the 34th minute for the Thunderbirds after she collected a rebound following a
Natalie Hirayama shot that rang off the cross bar.
Rachel Ramsden capped the scoring with a goal in the 89th minute for UBC, which improves to 5-1-1 with the win.

Alyssa Williamson made one save to secure her Canada West-leading sixth shutout of the season.
Fifth-year goalkeeper Michelle Anderson made six saves for the Cougars, who drop to 0-7-1 following the setback.
UBC attempted 11 shots in both halves and ended up with a 22-7 shot advantage during the contest. The Thunderbirds also had a 10-2 advantage in corner kicks.
UBC will get back on the pitch next weekend, when they'll host Fraser Valley and Victoria. The Cougars also have their next games against the Cascades and the Vikes, but will have a weekend off before flying out to visit Fraser Valley (Oct. 15) and Victoria (Oct. 16).
