VANCOUVER - Newly minted UBC Thunderbirds captain
Matthew Schneider opened his tenure with a pair of points as UBC downed the SAIT Trojans (ACAC) 4-1 in exhibition action at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre.

Named the game's first star, Schneider added the T-Birds fourth goal on a power play late in the third period while his assist came on

Scott Wasden opened the scoring for UBC with a shorthanded tally just over seven minutes into the second period. It was one of three T-Bird goals via special teams as
Justin McCrae scored with a man advantage at 19:59 of the middle period.
SAIT's long goal came courtesy of Clayton Goodall. The goal tied the contest 1-1 late in the second but McCrae's buzzer beater put the T-Birds ahead for good.
Jordan White made 15 saves for the win while his counterpart Tommy Tartaglione stopped 32 pucks in the loss.
The two teams meet again Saturday night at Father Bauer Arena. Puck drop is 7:00 p.m.
