TUCSON, AZ - The UBC Thunderbirds capped off an outstanding showing at the Tucson Invitational on Monday afternoon with a 9-0 victory over Calvin College.
The T-Birds, who came into the weekend tournament with a 3-11 record in their inaugural varsity season, were an impressive 6-2 in Arizona notching wins over Savannah College of Arts (7-6), Dakota Wesleyan (9-1), Dickinson State (8-5), St. Ambrose University (10-0), and George Fox University (11-2).
Whitworth University, who beat UBC by scores of 10-5 and 10-9, was the only school to blemish the T-Birds record this weekend.
UBC returns to the field in a two weeks time to battle BC rivals Simon Fraser in a doubleheader at North Delta Park on April 9. The festivities begin at 4:00 p.m.
