VANCOUVER - The UBC Thunderbirds (3-6) wrapped up their second road trip of the season last weekend, picking up two wins at the Northwest Cup hosted by Concordia University in Clackamas, OR.
The T-Birds earned a 7-6 win over Pacific in their second game of the tournament and got their first shutout of the season in a 3-0 win over Puget Sound in game four. They lost 7-4 to Concordia, 8-5 to Oregon Tech, and 5-2 to Willamette.

Allison Hipgrave earned the seven-inning shutout of Puget Sound giving up just six hits while striking out five.
Her teammates gave her a 1-0 lead in the top of the first with
Jessica Barclay reaching on a walk before being driven home by
Tanya McLean.

Alyssa Derksen singled her home to round out the scoring.
In UBC's 7-6 win over Pacific, the T-Birds jumped out to a big 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first only to see their opponents slowly retake the lead.
Pacific put up three in the top of the second and then went ahead with a pair in the fourth. UBC drew level with a single in the fifth and both teams added a run in sixth.
After holding Pacific off the board in the top of the seventh, Barclay sealed the win for UBC, doubling home
Lisa Fadden with two out in the bottom of the inning.
Barclay leads UBC with an impressive .500 batting average, .714 slugging percentage and has a team-leading five RBI and 10 runs from her lead of position. Derksen is also among the T-Birds most potent batters this year, sporting a .308 average and she has knocked in four runs.
The T-Birds continue their season on March fifth with their first two home games on the season. they host the SFU Clan on March 5th in a double header at London Park #1 in Richmond, BC. The first game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
