SASKATOON - The UBC Thunderbirds scored early but couldn't beat Saskatchewan Huskies goalie David Reekie again, losing 3-1 on the road at Rutherford Rink on Saturday night.
Reekie made 36 saves for his fifth win of the season as the Huskies improved to 6-4-0 with the win while UBC dropped to 3-4-3 following the loss.
The T-Birds carried the play early, and
Dustin Kimber scored his third goal of the season at 6:13 of the first to put the visitors ahead. UBC outshot Saskatchewan 14-6 in the period but only led 1-0 after 20 minutes of play.
Kyle Ross tied the game at the 7:40 mark of the second, converting on a man advantage for the Huskies. Andrew Bailey scored what turned out to be the winner with just under five minutes left in the middle frame.
Jason Wagar then added an insurance marker in the third, 5:44 into the period.
Saskatchewan was 1-of-3 with the man advantage while UBC went 0-for-3.
The T-Birds return home next weekend to host the Manitoba Bisons. Puck drop is 7:00 p.m. on November 19 and 20 at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre.
