REGINA - The UBC Thunderbirds defeated the Regina Cougars in three sets on Saturday night in a match-up of two sides desperate for wins by set scores of 25-19, 25-19 and 25-12 at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.
Kyle Duperron paced the UBC attack for the second consecutive night, tallying a match-high 14 kills and a .500 hitting percentage.

Setter
Ryan Zwarich masterfully commanded the T-Bird offence distributing 40 assists while coordinating an attack that hit an impressive .448 for the match.
Blair Bann showed his usual defensive poise with a match high 12 digs for the visitors.
"(Ryan) Zwarich did a good job distributing the ball tonight. That was one of the best matches of the year for him", said UBC head coach
Richard Schick.
Mathew Brooks led the Cougars with seven kills and added eight digs, while Lindsey Isaak had a team-leading nine digs. The victory improves UBC's record to 3-7 as the Thunderbirds move to within two wins of the final Canada West playoff spot.
"Slowly but surely we are getting back on track. As the cliché goes we control our own destiny. The next two weekends we play teams just ahead of us in the standings and we will need to perform well in those matches if we want to move up the standings", explained Schick.
UBC hits the road again next weekend and will face Brandon (5-3), while the Cougars will travel to Langley, B.C. for a pair of matches at Trinity Western.
