BRANDON - The UBC Thunderbirds (3-8) two-game winning streak came to an abrupt end Friday night at the Brandon University Gym at the hands of the No. 7 ranked Brandon Bobcats (6-3) by set scores of 33-31, 25-19, 17-25 and 25-19.
Paul Sanderson was once again a force to be reckoned with for the Bobcats as he amassed 25 kills in leading his side to victory.
Kyle Duperron led the T-Birds with 16 kills and
Tanner Kozak added 11. Riley Phillips chipped in 13 kills and led the hosts with 14 digs while Scott Neufeld gathered 12.
"It was an extremely tight first set, and we had our opportunities but we just weren't able to get that set point in the first," said UBC head coach
Richard Schick. "We rebounded nicely in the third after a flat second set but couldn't keep that momentum going."
With the win the Bobcats improve to 6-3 while the T-Birds fall to 3-8. Both teams will match up again tomorrow night at the BU gymnasium at 6:00PM PST.
