Fourth-year UBC forward Tommy Nixon led the Thunderbirds in scoring and rebounding in two victories over UBC Okanagan on the weekend. For his efforts he was named the Canada West Third Star of the Week.

In Friday's 69-58 win, Nixon had 15 points and 13 rebounds, including eight points in a pivotal third quarter that prove' to be the difference in the game.

Nixon made his mark again on Saturday as he scored a game-high 25 points and added seven rebounds in an 85-77 win for UBC. The Heat got themselves to within one point with 3:30 remaining in the third quarter on a Mitch Goodwin jumper, but they never got closer than that, thanks to Nixon, who scored the game's next eight points, capped off by back-to-back three-point plays from the foul line, to put his team up 56-47.

With his strong play of late, Nixon has moved into 18th in Canada West scoring with an average of 13.5 points a game. He also sits 15th in league rebounding with 6.8 boards a game.

Fourth-place UBC currently holds down the final Pacific Division playoff spot and will conclude the regular season this weekend with a home-and-home series against division leaders, Victoria.
