Mike Mosher

Mike Mosher is in his 10th season as head coach of the UBC Thunderbirds men’s soccer program, looking to guide the squad to its first national title since 1994 — a year he coached the Point Grey side to a gold medal after his father Dick, who was in charge of both the men’s and women’s programs at the time, went with the women’s team to nationals.

Mosher was a standout player before his coaching days, competing as a T-Bird for five years, during which time he contributed to three national championship runs in 1989, ‘90 and ‘91. He was named MVP of the ‘89 gold medallists and was also a CIS All-Canadian in 1990. Mosher also played four years with the Canadian Olympic team and spent four seasons in the Canadian Soccer League with Edmonton and Winnipeg.

A UBC physical education graduate, he also completed his master’s degree in arts at UBC, specializing in sport management. He and wife Mary, who works in communications for the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympics, have two young daughters.
