UBC Thunderbirds Bike Valet

VANCOUVER – The Thunderbird Bike Valet will be out at a UBC Football game this year. Fans are encouraged to ride their bikes out to support the football team on Saturday October 13, 2012 at 2:00pm for their last regular season home game.

The Bike Valet will be set up at the front gates of the stadium where cyclists will have a free and secure place to leave their bike for the duration of the game. In addition to having front row parking, cyclists will receive a free hot dog and drink and the first 30 individuals will be given seats in the reserved section.

AMS Bike Co-Op will also be on hand offering free tune-ups and information on the cycling resources they offer. Cyclists can also enter into a draw to win a Complete Tune-up package from the Bike Kitchen valued at $50. Tune-ups will begin at 12:30pm on Saturday so be sure to get to the game early. For more information on the AMS Bike Co-op, the Bike Kitchen and the services they offer visit their website at www.bikecoop.ca

The Thunderbirds have also partnered with UBC Transportation Planning in an effort to encourage more fans to bike to games. The Bike Valet will be helping to promote UBC’s Bike Smart Pledge. Transportation Planning is asking cyclists to take the pledge and ride safely and responsibly around campus. In exchange for their pledge, cyclists will receive a free bike bell. Be sure to visit the UBC Transportation Planning website before the game to check out bike routes, information on the rules of the road and other great cycling tips.
