VANCOUVER – The UBC Thunderbirds are proud to announce that former Vancouver Giant and Moose Jaw Warrior centre Thomas Foster will join the UBC hockey program for the fall of 2017.
In his five WHL seasons Foster played in 289 games, scored 53 goals and recorded 93 assists. The native of Slave Lake, Alberta was the Vancouver Giants first round draft choice in the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft.
"I love Vancouver. It's a beautiful city," says Foster. "I was down there the other day and saw the campus and got to meet some other guys on the team and the coaching staff. They were class acts."
Foster describes himself as '200-foot, two-way forward' who believes he can slot into any role in the 'Birds line-up and be effective.
"Thomas Foster was one of the WHL's fastest skaters. He plays a complete game and is a hard nosed player that plays with an edge, but has good hands," says UBC Head Coach
Sven Butenschon. "He's like the Energizer Bunny."
UBC begins its pre-season schedule in September and its Canada West hockey season gets started in October.
