VANCOUVER - The UBC women's volleyball program is proud to welcome Sara Pantovic (Vancouver-King George H.S) to the Thunderbirds for the 2017-18 season. The 6'2" product of Vancouver is returning from the University of Arizona where she starred for two years on the beach volleyball team. Named one of BC's best female volleyball players by The Province newspaper when she graduated, Pantovic is expected to make an immediate impact with the 'Birds. As an outside hitter, her jumping ability coupled with the passing and ball control she has developed on the beach will help solidify what is already a stingy T-Bird defence.
On the beach she was an outstanding blocker and is expected to translate that skill indoors once she is familiarized again with the reads and speed of the indoor game. In losing three veteran players to graduation the 'Birds feel lucky to be adding a "mature" rookie to the squad and one who has played with and is familiar with many of the current 'Birds.
The coaches are excited to add Sara's intensity, passion and skill to the team and look forward to her joining them on campus in the fall.
