VANCOUVER - Five UBC Thunderbirds were highlighted in the most recent TSN Canadian Draft Rankings compiled by Duane Forde.
Headlining the group are a pair of Canada West all-stars in running back
Dave Boyd and cornerback
Sam Carino.
Boyd, who ranked ninth in CIS in rushing last season with a 97.8 yards per game average, was rated as the 11th best running back. Carino, who was described by Forde as having explosive quickness, finished the 2009 season with 21 tackles, four passes broken up, and four passes defended.
Offensive lineman
Cody Husband and
Oamo Culbreath also made the TSN list. Husband was rated as the eighth best offensive tackle while Culbreath ranked 10th among guards.
Also earning recognition was linebacker
Nathan Kanya. Despite missing most of the 2009 season due to injuries, Kanya was rated as the seventh best linebacker ranking behind top CIS talents such as Shomari Williams and Cory Greenwood - two players that have generated interest from the NFL.
All five T-Birds ranked by Forde have CIS eligibility remaining.
