Soccer goalkeeper Pat Onstad helped lead the Thunderbirds to a record 54-game unbeaten streak in the early 1990's, and three CIS Championships.
He was a two-time All Canadian during his UBC career and the CIS Championship MVP in 1994. As a member of Canada's national team, he played in a total of 57 international matches, more than any other Canadian goalkeeper. He entered pro soccer in 1987 at the age of 18 with the Vancouver 86ers and was eventually a member of three Major League Soccer Championship teams.
In 2007 with DC United, he led the league in save percentage and goals-against on route to setting a league record 0.82 goals-against average. After a stellar 23-year professional career, Pat retired in 2010 and became a member of the coaching staff of DC United.
