As a star with UBC from 2005 to 2010, Liz Cordonier won just about every award and honour there was to win.
She led the Thunderbirds to three national championships, completing her university career in 2010 with an undefeated season and a remarkable string of individual accolades.
In 2010, Cordonier won the Jim Thompson Trophy as the top female athlete in all of U SPORTS. At the Big Block Awards, she won the Marilyn Pomfret Award as UBC’s Most Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year and the May Brown Trophy as the school’s outstanding graduating female athlete of the Year.
Cordonier was the national championship tournament’s Most Valuable Player and a tournament all-star. For her regular season accomplishments, she was named the U SPORTS and Canada West Player of the Year.
In total, she was a three-time Canada West All-Star, two-time All-Canadian, and two-time U SPORTS championship all-star.
Cordonier represented Canada as member of the senior national team for four years. She played indoor volleyball professionally for two seasons and also spent two years on the beach as a player on the FIVB World Tour.
She is now a lawyer in Vancouver and volunteers her legal services to a number of different non-profit sports organizations.
